In Denmark, the supply of takeaway food has increased significantly in recent years. More and more people enjoy their food on the street, in parks or nature or want it on the road, for example by train and car.
At the same time, there are an increasing number of outdoor events, such as festivals, city parties and sports events, where takeaway food is often served.
With that, there is also a greater risk that disposable service, packaging and food waste will end up in the nature.
But, in fact, many fast food chains focus on minimizing food waste with fewer product groups and with the ability to better plan purchases that fit demand. This is good for their economy, but it also gives less waste in terms of raw materials and preparation.
At the same time, many chains are working to minimize and replace packaging and disposable cutlery, reducing environmental impact.
In many places you can also fill your own cup, but for hygiene and health reasons it is often not possible to bring your own buckets or food packages - although this will be a natural step to minimize packaging.
In some cases, disposable service and packaging are often the only solutions as customers do not stay on site and do not want to lug around a lot of used packaging. Here it is important that solutions have been established in public spaces, in trains and buses and at rest areas so that they can easily get rid of their waste - and at best sort it out.
Again, many takeaway sites try to customize solutions to reduce energy, food and packaging waste.
You can help order beverages with pledge packaging, have your own water bottle or bring your own cup for coffee and tea.
